Betting suggestion: Barcelona -0,5 @2,02 Pinnacle
Both managers will have to cope with some injury problems. Bigger without a doubt are problems for the home manager Pochettino, as he will miss midfielders Eriksen, Dele Alli, Dembele, defenders Vertonghen, Aurier, second goalkeeper Vorm and forward Janssen. Valverde on the other side will miss only two, but both important – Umtiti and Sergi Roberto. Both teams had some difficulties in domestic leagues, losing points on matches where they shouldn’t. That goes mostly for Barcelona who is on the winless road for three consecutive matches – failing against Bilbao, Leganes, and Girona. I have a feeling that Ernesto Valverde is simply losing the “touch” with this team and he is losing the ability to motivate players in those “smaller” matches. Champions League is the competition where players usually don’t need special motivation and therefore I expect different Barcelona. Tottenham relies too much on abilities of Eriksen in midfield, while Dele Alli was deadly on important matches as a player making runs from the second plan. Without them, I think that they will be less offensive minded while on the other side Barcelona still has Messi, who will, in my opinion, decide this match. Champions League is the competition where I am putting a lot of focus on experiences and even if we’ve seen several surprises yesterday, those surprises are more often happening on matches where giants are meeting smaller clubs. In this case, it won’t be like that as Tottenham became a very serious club in last years.
