Betting suggestion:

  • Marseille -0,5 at 2,48 Pinnacle

Short preview: Yes, I know. “Ballsy” pick, regarding the fact that Marseille are the worst team in the Champions League, currently on the run of 13 losses in a row. Still, even though they have 0 points with 4 losses and 0-9 goal difference in the group, they have chances to qualify to Europa League. Manchester City and Porto were obvious favorites in this group, and it’s not a surprise to see Olympiacos and Marseille fighting for the 3rd spot. Olympiacos snapped the only victory with a late goal against Marseille in Greece, and things might turned around this time with OM being at their Velodrome. Olympiacos are leading team of Greece Super League, but will miss two players due to covid today – Maghoub (the scorer of the winning goal in the first meeting), and Serbian international Lazar Randjelovic. Other important missing player is ex Marseille star Valbuena, who will therefore miss the “reunion” at Velodrome. The main reason I am picking Marseille in this meeting is the current performance against Nantes in the domestic league, where they finally performed as they should on several other matches. They played plenty of “shi***” matches, but still somehow grabbed 3 points, and that’s why they are only 4 points behind the leading PSG with 2 matches less! It is true that they scored an early goal against Nantes, but what attracted me the most was the fact how they continued with the game. It was by far the best performance of OM this season. Some players that were far from last year’s form finally performed at the highest level and if Villas-Boas will find the way how to keep the morale boost, I believe Marseille have very good chances here of taking all three points. Balerdi is suspended, but anyways Caleta-Car and Alvaro Gonzales are the preferred options in central defence. Kamara will most likely partner Rongier and Cuissance in midfield, all three played extremely well against Nantes and if they will be at the same level today, I don’t expect another fail from Marseille in CL. Odds are definitely nice, but as the draw doesn’t help Marseille at all, I prefer to suggest taking the direct win over the asian handicap 0 (draw no bet), as I believe they will push on all or nothing here. Three points are also bringing 1,5M to the club….
