Real Madrid v Borussia M’Gladbach

Short preview: I have to admit, I was surprised to see the odds on Real Madrid that high. I do respect Germans, but as you all know, I rate experiences almost as the most important factor in Champions League and as we were able to see the situation in the group H, where Manchester United started the campaign extremely well but lost the most important match against Leipzig yesterday and will continue the European competition in Europa League. Yes, Manchester definitely have experiences, but I am talking about past few seasons, and about experiences of players currently playing in the team. We’ve seen what Leipzig have done last season, and it looks they will be “pain in the ***” this season as well. At the same time PSG started horribly, but will qualify without bigger problems – as depends completely on them if they finish 1st or 2nd. Situation in the group B is definitely not something what was expected as all four teams still have chances to qualify for the next phase. Surprisingly, Gladbach and Shakhtar are currently in the best position, but Ukranians will play away in Milano, while Germans will be hosted by Real Madrid, the absolute kings of this competition. For the most important match so far in season 20/21, Zidane will welcome back Dani Carvajal and Sergio Ramos, definitely two extremely important players of this team, and team will therefore look completely different. It definitely is a season full of surprises, but I can not imagine Real Madrid not qualifying through this group. Marco Rose on the other side rested some players as well, and we will definitely see Marcus Thuram, the man of the match on the first fixture in Gladbach, starting the match. As mentioned above, experiences are heavily on the side of Real Madrid, and that, if anything else, should make the difference in this match. Gladbach started this Champions League group completely without pressure, they went from match to the match without pressure, and with positive results, their confidence was raising, but tonight the situation will be slightly different – they lost the important match with Inter, where they had first chance to book the ticket for the next phase, and now, they will play to qualify or not to qualify. Comparing those two teams from the aspect of quality is already almost impossible, so when we add all the nerves that will come with the importance of the match, I think Real Madrid will take advantage of that and win this game with more than a goal difference. It’s also important to mention that while Gladbach seemed pretty nervous already in the match with Freiburg in the last round of Bundesliga (2:2), Real Madrid won (0:1) at Sevilla away with very mature performance, letting “Sevillistas” only a few chances.
